The ethical dilemma on Pg.293 is about a district manager that is responsible for the performance appraisals of eight salespeople. The boss has “suggested” to the manager to look favorable on one in particular salesperson. That salesperson will probably be promoted next month, even though she is not the top performer. The top performer would be better suited for the promotion but he would no longer be under you and would really hate to loose him from your team. What should you do?
I believe that you should do what is right and honest. You should give the performance appraisals that each of your eight employees have earned and let the chips fall where they will.
